Co-founder and Design Principal of Groundwork Architects & Associates
Manfred Yuen is the founder of Groundwork Architects & Associates, which was first established in London in 2007 and later in Hong Kong (2011) and Shenzhen (2019). Yuen also served as a visiting lecturer at Kingston University, London, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design, teaching architecture design and history.
Before founding Groundwork, he received his architectural training at the University of Hong Kong (with first class honour) and the University of Cambridge. He also worked at Pentagram Design (London), and Coop-Himmelb(l)au, Vienna, where he was responsible for its operations in China.
Yuen has received numerous awards, including the “40-under-40 Design Talents/Asia”(2011); “The Next Generation Architects, Backstage Architecture, Italy” (2010); and the “40 under 40 FA Emerging Chinese Architects” (2019). He was also the recipient of the “Spirit of Hong Kong Award” (2013), which recognises individuals and enterprises that have made significant contributions to the greater good of Hong Kong.
In 2019, he delivered a TEDX talk in Shenzhen on humanistic and socially responsible architecture.
